Tensor Products of Closed Operators on Banach Spaces
Let A and B be closed operators on Banach spaces X and Y. Assume that A and B have nonempty resolvent sets and that the spectra of A and B are unbounded. Let 01 be a uniform cross norm on X @ Y. Using the Gelfand theory and resolvent algebra techniques, a spectral mapping theorem is proven for a certain class of rational functions of A and B. The class of admissable rational functions (includin...
متن کاملOn an atomic decomposition in Banach spaces
An atomic decomposition is considered in Banach space. A method for constructing an atomic decomposition of Banach space, starting with atomic decomposition of subspaces is presented. Some relations between them are established. The proposed method is used in the study of the frame properties of systems of eigenfunctions and associated functions of discontinuous differential operators.
متن کاملCompact operators on Banach spaces
In this note I prove several things about compact linear operators from one Banach space to another, especially from a Banach space to itself. Some of these may things be simpler to prove for compact operators on a Hilbert space, but since often in analysis we deal with compact operators from one Banach space to another, such as from a Sobolev space to an L space, and since the proofs here are ...
متن کاملThe lattice of closed ideals in the Banach algebra of operators on certain Banach spaces
Very few Banach spaces E are known for which the lattice of closed ideals in the Banach algebra B(E) of all (bounded, linear) operators on E is fully understood. Indeed, up to now the only such Banach spaces are, up to isomorphism, Hilbert spaces and the sequence spaces c0 and `p for 1 6 p < ∞. We add a new member to this family by showing that there are exactly four closed ideals in B(E) for t...
متن کاملAbout Deenitions of Pseudospectra of Closed Operators in Banach Spaces
Our goal, in this paper, is to study some equivalent deenitions of the pseudospectra of a closed linear operator. We start from two deenitions, one with strict inequality and the other with non-strict inequality. The rst deenition makes the pseudospectrum open and the second makes it closed. We will show the subtle diierence between these seemingly almost identical deenitions and the relations ...
